Aloo Achar with chilli chicken – Nepal style dinner


Nepal is a place on my ‘to visit’ list.
Why? There’s so much to see, from Annapurna, Everest and Langtang regions to Khumbu, Mera peak and the Scar Road from Kathmandu.

Mountain biking, kayaking and trekking in beautiful locations of Nepal is a dream.

And then, there is food. Beautiful Nepali food.

So many choices of grilled meat, potatoes and chutneys.

So if you fancy a bit of Nepali feast, all you need is:

For potatoes Aloo Achar:

5-6 small potatoes, boiled and diced

1 red onion

1 green pepper

2 red chillies

1 table spoon of cumin

1 table spoon of turmeric powder

Lemon juice



As the potatoes are boiling chop your vegetables and fry slowly on low heat.
Add all the spices and chopped potatoes and fry for another few minutes.

For the chilli chicken:

2 boneless chicken breasts, diced into small pieces

1 red onion

4 chillies,  red and green

2 tomatoes

2 table spoons of turmeric powder

2 table spoons of cumin

2 green peppers

Ginger,  garlic and salt to season


Pan fry your chicken with all the spices for 8 minutes then add your vegetables.  You don’t want to overcook vegetables so make sure you keep your pan very hot and stir fry them for just around 5 minutes.
